The motor block delivers 1500 W and an idle speed of 4500 RPM according to the manufacturer’s specifications (some listings indicate 4700 RPM, likely due to a discrepancy between the European and North American markets). This power places the PES01A in the upper range of entry-level circular saws.

In use, the torque remains sufficient to cut through softwood up to 63 mm thick at 90° without noticeable slowing. However, on hardwood like beech or oak, we observe a more significant drop in speed compared to competing models equipped with an electronic speed control. The PES01A does not have this feature: torque regulation is solely dependent on the operator’s pressure, which requires some finesse to avoid overloading the motor.

The spindle lock simplifies blade changes. The 20 mm arbor is a standard that allows for the mounting of compatible blades from multiple manufacturers, a significant advantage for a brand whose after-sales service network has disappeared (we will return to this).

The laser guide projects a red line onto the workpiece. It helps in locating the cut line, but its accuracy depends on the initial calibration. Periodic recalibration is necessary, as the vibrations from the motor eventually shift the beam by a few millimeters after several hours of use.

Included Blades and Compatibility: A Critical Point in 2025

The PES01A comes with two 185 mm carbide blades: a 24-tooth blade for quick cuts in raw wood, and a 40-tooth blade for cleaner finishes on melamine and plywood. This basic offering is generous compared to direct competitors, which often provide only one blade.

With a weight of around 5 kg, the PES01A is standard for a corded circular saw of this power. The main handle offers a decent grip, but the rubberized coating is basic. During extended sessions, fatigue sets in faster than with models featuring an ergonomic two-component handle.

For intensive professional use, the limitations become apparent quickly: absence of electronic speed control, play in the bevel adjustment, and especially the disappearance of the Tacklife after-sales service network. A tradesperson who breaks a specific component finds themselves without a quick solution. However, the PES01A remains a relevant choice as a secondary job site saw or for occasional workshops, provided that the supply of generic consumables is anticipated.
